cis-3-Hexenol *ADR*

cis-3-Hexenol is an aromachemical for use in, for example, perfume, cosmetics and air fresheners.

Use

cis-3-Hexenol has an scent reminiscent of freshly cut grass. The fragrance is strong, you can easily overdose on this substance. Making a dilution of, for example, 10% or even 1% can therefore be useful. It mixes quite well with ethanol, DPG and TEC. Typical use is in green accords, especially from grass and wild flowers. You usually use less than 1% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with floral scents, but also with citrus and fruit scents. A good component for the sepal aspect in green floral scents such as lily of the valley and lime blossom. It adds a natural green touch to the scent. In perfumes it is mainly a top note, it is reasonably stable, but it is not recommended for soap.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place and out of the reach of children.

Properties

cis-3-Hexenol is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 98% and the substance has a reasonably long shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance the synthetic version is used. This is largely based on vegetable raw materials.

The substance has been on the market since about 1960 and is also known as leaf alcohol.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g package is made of aluminium with a white cap. Closing is always with regular caps, for dosing small quantities we recommend the use of plastic pipettes.

Sustainability

This fragrance is largely made from renewable raw materials. The degradability in the environment is reasonable. You need little of this substance for a strong effect.
