Orange flower water (org) is a natural fragrance extract from the bitter orange tree, for use in cosmetics.

Use

Orange flower water (org) has a floral scent: blossom with something of orange. The smell is not particularly strong, so undiluted use is common. Typical use is in low alcoholic products such as aftershave or eau de Cologne. Replace some of the water in, for example, a cream or shampoo with orange blossom water. This allows you to perfume it subtly and naturally. Use between 5% and 50% of this substance in the end product, a higher percentage is not a problem. It combines well with citrus and floral scents such as lavender and lemon. It adds a nice natural warm scent. In perfumes it is mainly a heart note, it is fairly stable, but in more aggressive products such as soap it is better to use something else. Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

Orange flower water (org) is a pale yellow to yellow-orange liquid at room temperature. About 0,6% preservative has been added, consisting of benzyl alcohol, dehydroacetic acid and a little water, so the substance has a fairly long shelf life. For the rest, it is a natural product, namely the water released during the steam distillation of the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var amara L.). These trees are grown organically. The water (hydrolate) contains a little fragrance, otherwise mainly water. All in all, more than 98% of the product is water.
