Description
EO Galbanum (org) is an essential oil used as a fragrance material in perfume, cosmetics and other fragrant products.
Usage
EO Galbanum (org) has a green spicy fragrance, which is quite strong and easily dominates in a fragrance composition. Therefore, making a 10% dilution, using DPG or strong alcohol, can be helpful. It complements scents such as citrus, wood, herbs and spices. In addition, it is a classic green note in certain floral scents such as hyacinth, gardenia and tuberose. It fits especially well in fougère, chypre, but also in scents with lavender or rose. It is mainly a top note in perfumes and is quite stable in many products, including soap.
Store cool, dry and dark.
Properties
EO Galbanum (org) is a colourless to slightly yellow liquid at room temperature. The substance is sensitive to sunlight and oxygen from the air and therefore has a limited shelf life. To meet the requirements of IFRA, we add a small amount of tocopherol (Vitamin E) to this oil to reduce the risk of oxidation. Otherwise, it is a pure essential oil.
The oil is made from the resin of the galbanum plant by steam distillation. This resin is made by cutting the rhizome of the plant, causing the sap to flow out that turns into a resin. Because the production and extraction of this resin happens in a traditional manner at different places, the resin can vary in quality and origin. In any case, the supplying plant is a plant from the genus Ferula Tourn. ex L.. If you want to use a generic name, one usually lands on Ferula Gummosa Boiss. Other species names that are also used in trade are F. Galbaniflua, F. Galbanifera and F. Gumosa.
The plants used are grown organically.
Like any essential oil, it is also a mixture of various substances. The following is an indication of the composition:
> 25% - beta Pinene
5-10% - Alpha Pinene, Bulnesol, Delta-3-Careen, Myrcene
2-5% - Guaiol, Limonene
