Attention!
Before purchasing, read all the information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids, or other internal use.
Intended for mixing with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.
Will be shipped as hazardous in transport (ADR), so returns may not be possible.
Use
Strawberry furanone has a sweet, fruity scent reminiscent of strawberry jam and caramel. The scent is strong and the substance is sensitive to oxygen and moisture, so a dilution of, for example, 10% can be beneficial. This can be done in DPG, alcohol, or TEC. Its typical use is in fruity and gourmand accords. You usually use between 0,1% and 5% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It blends well with other fruity and gourmand scents. In perfumes, it primarily serves as a base note; it is not very stable, so we advise against using it in soaps and candles.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place, and out of reach of children. Storing it in a refrigerator can extend its shelf life, but because the substance must also be kept dry, we do not recommend this. If you do refrigerate, remember that it is a hazardous substance, so we repeat: keep out of reach of children.
Properties
Strawberry furanone, also called furaneol, is a white to yellowish coarse powder at room temperature. Its purity is at least 98% and the substance has a limited shelf life. It occurs naturally, but the synthetic version is used as a fragrance material.
This is not an easy material to use because it is sensitive to oxygen, moisture in the air, and heat. The indicated expiration date will often not be met, as the substance clumps and disintegrates under the influence of moisture in the air and oxygen. We recommend purchasing this substance in small quantities, diluting it yourself immediately to 10% or even less, and replacing it regularly.
For this reason, we cannot guarantee the shelf life of this substance. We also have to replace it regularly ourselves, so it will occasionally be unavailable for extended periods.
