gamma Octalactone

Description

Gamma Octalactone is an aromachemical for use in, for example, perfume, cosmetics, and air fresheners.

Caution!

Before purchasing, please read all the information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.

Use

Gamma Octalactone has a scent reminiscent of coconut. The smell is not particularly strong, undiluted use is usual. It is used in fruit accords such as fig, coconut, tropical fruit, apricot and peach. In floral accords it goes well with gardenia and tuberose, but the creative perfumer will find it surprisingly versatile. For example, it is a product that can partly replace coumarin, it goes well with oak moss, sandalwood and those are still just a few examples. You usually use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance composition. In perfumes it is mainly a heart to base note. It is fairly stable in most products; in soap: it is possible, provided the soap is not too fresh and sufficiently matured.

Keep cool, dry, dark and out of the reach of children.

Properties

Gamma Octalactone is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 98% and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance, the synthetic version is used. Usually it is largely made from vegetable substances, but we are not sure whether this also applies to the substance we sell.

Sustainability
