Soothex (Giv)

Soothex (Giv) is an active ingredient for use in cosmetics. It prevents or limits skin irritation, itching and redness.

Use

Soothex (Giv) mixes with water and water-miscible substances like surfactants and glycerine. In shampoos and the like, it is best mixed with the surfactants before adding the water. It does mix well with alcoholic products such as aftershave and toners. In creams and other emulsions it can be added to the aqueous phase, or afterwards mixed with the emulsion.

Use about 0,5-2,5% in the final product. There is no legal limit, the advice is based on the information from the manufacturer, Givaudan.

Properties

Soothex (Giv) is a yellow viscous liquid at room temperature. The material has a fairly long shelf life: keep in a cool, dry, dark and well-closed container. It consists of an extract of frankincense (gum of Boswellia serrata Roxb. ex Colebr.) in dipropylene glycol (DPG).

Its action is possibly based on suppressing the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase, which could inhibit inflammation and suppress allergic response. Apart from this possibility, Givaudan has clinically tested the product where it was found to reduce irritation, itching and redness of the skin.

Sustainability

The active ingredient itself is completely renewable and vegetable. The solvent is made from natural gas or petroleum. It is easily biodegradable in the environment.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packs consist of a glass bottle with a black child-resistant closure. The 250 g pack consists of an aluminum bottle with a cap.

Soothex (Giv) is not classified as a hazardous substance, nevertheless we recommend that you always handle raw materials with care. Keep out of reach of children.
