Description

Rose absolute is a fragrance extract for use in, for example, perfume and cosmetics.

Use

Rose absolute has a somewhat harsh, deep scent reminiscent of rose, wood and dry spice. The smell is fairly strong, but the reason that this substance is often diluted is mainly the high price. A dilution of, for example, 10 or 25% is not unusual for that reason, most solvents can be used for this, for example DPG. Rose absolute can be used widely, it fits in many floral scents (not just rose), especially violet and hyacinth. Also with wood, musk, spice, but also with ambers. You usually use between 0,1% and 2% of this substance in the fragrance composition. More is certainly possible, but unusual due to the high price. It is primarily a heart to base note in perfumes and is stable in most products, including soap.

Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

Rose absolute is an orange-yellow to red-brown liquid at room temperature. The material has a fairly long shelf life. It is an absolute, an extract that is made with certain solvents, such as hexane or alcohol. These solvents are removed from the extract as best as possible, but up to 2% alcohol is certainly possible. The fragrance comes from the petals of the flowers of Rosa × damascena Mill..

We normally supply an absolute made from Turkish roses.

Like any plant extract, this one is a mixture of various substances. An indication of the composition is the following:

> 25% - Phenyl ethyl alcohol
5-10% - Citronellol, Geraniol
1-2% - Eugenol

Sustainability

Rose absolute is made entirely from renewable, plant-based substances, namely roses. It is ultimately completely biodegradable in the environment, but until complete decomposition it can do some damage to the environment. Growing the necessary roses requires a lot of land, a lot of water, a lot of fertilizer and a lot of crop protection. The words 'a lot' here mean: very much, you need about half a hectare of roses for one kg of the absolute. It is a good example of a natural fragrance that should certainly not be regarded as environmentally friendly.

Packaging

The 1 and 5 g packs are made of brown glass with a black cap. The larger containers are made of aluminium with a white or black cap.

H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
H318 - Causes serious eye damage.
