Description

EO Birch Tar is an essential oil, used as an aroma chemical in perfume, soap, or other fragrant products.

Use

EO Birch Tar has a sweet fragrance, reminiscent of tar, but also of leather. It is a strong and predominant fragrance, which is why making a dilution of, for example, 10% or even 1% is wise. In small quantities, it can accentuate scents such as vanilla and wood. It can have surprising effects on fruits, flowers and spicy scents. In larger quantities, it can be used in leathery fragrances and in special, more theatrical compositions. It compliments vetiver very well. It is mainly a base note in perfumes and is stable in most products, including soap.

Store cool, dry and dark.

Properties

EO Birch tar is a dark brown liquid at room temperature. The substance has a long shelf life. The oil is made from the bark of birch trees, which is heated. The emerging vapours are collected and cooled. This is the raw birch tar which is then cleaned in such a way that it is suitable for use in perfumes and cosmetics. Like any essential oil, it is also a mixture of various substances. The composition has little been researched, but we know the oil largely consists of phenolic compounds, terpenes and alcohols such as eugenol.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g packaging is made of aluminium and has a white cap.
