Ionone beta

Ionone beta is an aromachemical for use in perfume, cosmetics, soap, and air fresheners.

Use

Ionone beta has a floral scent reminiscent of iris and violet, with clear aspects of wood and forest fruits. The scent is not particularly strong, undiluted use is common. It is a versatile material that is mainly used for fruit and floral accords. Fruit can include forest fruits such as blackberry, strawberry and raspberry, but also melon or apricot. In flowers: iris and violet, but also rose, osmanthus and freesia. You usually use between 0,1% and 20% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with fruit, flowers and wood. Even in a somewhat lower dosage it can have a harmonizing effect on the fragrance composition. In perfumes it is mainly a base note, it is stable in many products, also in soap.

The scent is very similar to that of ionone alpha. This is partly due to the strong chemical relationship, which means that the beta variant can always contain up to 25% ionone alpha. The main difference in scent is that the alpha version has more of the cedar aspect of ionone and the beta variant much less, which makes the fruity aspect of ionone beta stronger.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place and out of reach of children.

Properties

Ionone beta is a colourless to yellow liquid at room temperature. The shelf life is reasonable. It is rarely found in nature, for example in champaca and osmanthus, but for use as a fragrance the synthetic version is almost always used.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g and 1 kg packaging is made of aluminium with a white cap. Closure is always with normal closing caps, for dosing small quantities we recommend the use of plastic pipettes.

Sustainability

This fragrance is made from petrochemicals such as petroleum. The degradability in the environment is not very good.
