Potassium ferricyanide red (T)

Potassium ferricyanide red (T) is a substance for use in experiments, but also especially for blueprint (cyanotype).

Use

We primarily sell Potassium ferricyanide red (T) for use in blueprints. In addition, it is an indicator for iron compounds. An attractive experiment: it can be turned into Berlin blue: a pigment. In the analogue darkroom it is used in 'attenuator' recipes. An attenuator reduces contrast on negatives that are too high in contrast.

Properties

Potassium ferricyanide red (T) (potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) should not be confused with Potassium ferricyanide yellow (T), which is another substance.

The purity is 'technical' grade, which is sufficient for the mentioned applications.

Dangers

Regulatory (REACH) not classified as a hazardous substance. Nevertheless, we have stated on the packaging that toxic fumes can be produced in combination with acids. That risk is small and not to be expected under normal use. We also recommend to keep this substance out of the reach of children. Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
