Description
Elemi resinoid pure is an aroma extract for use in, for example, soap or perfume.
Use
Elemi resinoid pure has a warm, citrus-like scent, which also has spicy aspects. The smell is not very strong, but because it is a solid, making a dilution is useful. A 10% solution is reasonably easy to make, although it can turn out somewhat opaque. The typical use is to enhance citrus accords, but it also goes very well with spice scents, herbal scents and resin scents. You usually use 0.5-5% of this substance in the fragrance composition, but with citrus compositions for soap this can be more. It is stable, even in soap. It is mainly a base note and is therefore often used for fixation of citrus, especially in soap.
Properties
Elemi resinoid pure is a solid, hard to ointment-like substance with a yellow-green, sometimes brown colour. It is made from the Elemi resin, which comes from the Elemi tree or Canarium luzonicum (Blume) A. Gray. It is native to parts of Asia, especially the Philippines, however the extracts are mostly made in Europe. The resinoid is made by dissolving it in alcohol, then the solution is filtered and the alcohol removed again. As a result, there may still be a small residue of alcohol in the resinoid.
Packaging
We pack this substance in white plastic (PP) jars with lids. The image is therefore no longer entirely correct: the 10 g packaging is now also made of white plastic. This is because child-resistant packaging is no longer necessary.
Threats
Elemi resinoid pure is classified as a dangerous substance. The classification was changed in 2019, so that we can now sell the substance to anyone again in any quantity. The current format has the following characteristics:
WARNING
H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
H319 - Causes serious eye irritation
H412 - Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
Elemi resinoid pure contains the allergenic substance limonene.
