Essential oil Cedarwood Virginia is an essential oil for use as a fragrance. Use the oil for example in perfume, cosmetics, soap and other scented products.

Use

Essential oil Cedarwood Virginia has a sweet wood scent. Because it is not overly strong, dilution of the substance is not necessary. It is a very versatile substance and combines well with other woods such as sandalwood. But also with the scent of citrus, moss, herbs and spices, it fits particularly well with chypres. A classic example of use is as a wood base in combination with vetiver oil. It is mainly a base note in perfumes, although it easily penetrates into the heart and even the top of the perfume. It is stable in most products, including soap. The smell is less strong in soap than you would expect, but the oil does have a fixing effect on many other fragrances.

Cedarwood, combined with citronella oil, is used as an insect repellent.

Store cool, dry and dark. Do not store cedarwood oil too cold and certainly not in the refrigerator, because of this the component cedrol can crystallize, this only dissolves again with great difficulty.

Properties

Essential oil Cedarwood Virginia is a light yellow to yellow liquid at room temperature, the substance has a fairly long shelf life. The oil is made by steam distillation from the wood of the pencil cedar Juniperus virginiana L.. It is actually not a cedar, but a tree from the juniper family. Like any essential oil, this one is a mixture of various substances. An indication of the composition is the following:
> 25% - alpha Cedrene
10-25% - Cedrol, Thujopseen
5-10% - beta Cedrene
2-5% - alpha Selinene, beta Himachaleen, Widdrol

Nothing has been added to the oil, it is 100% pure essential oil.

Sustainability

The oil is made from naturally occurring wood, the raw material is completely renewable. The species is not under threat at all and is planted, among other things, to prevent erosion and wind damage. However: the oil does not degrade easily and is hazardous for the environment.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g and 1 kg pack is made of aluminium with a stopper and white cap.

The 250 g and 1 kg packaging is not supplied to private individuals. The reason is that we have not found suitable packaging with a child-resistant closure. The latter is mandatory for this product, when delivered to private individuals.

Dangers

Essential oil Cedarwood Virginia is classified as a hazardous substance, with the following characteristics:

H304 - May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.
H315 - Causes skin irritation.
H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
H410 - Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Essential oil Cedarwood Virginia contains few of the usual allergens, but can nevertheless cause an allergic skin reaction.
