Fragrance raw material
Description
EO Vetiver Sri Lanka is an essential oil, used as a fragrance compound in perfume, cosmetics and other fragrant products.
Use
EO Vetiver Sri Lanka has an earthy, woody, spicy fragrance with smoky aspects. After the scent composition has matured, the fragrance can have a stronger effect than during mixing. A dilution of, for example, 10 or 25% is therefore recommended. The vetiver scent fits well in wood accords, such as the one with cedar. Vetiver combines well with spicy floral scents, such as rose or carnation. It is mainly a base note in perfumes and quite stable in most products, including soap.
Store cool, dry and dark.
Properties
EO Vetiver Sri Lanka is a dark brown, viscous liquid at room temperature. The substance has a long shelf life and actually only gets better as it ages. The oil is made from the roots of the vetiver plant by steam distillation. Like any essential oil, it is also a mixture of various substances; the following is an indication of the composition:
5-25% - Khusimol
5-10% - beta Vetirene, beta Vetivenene
2-5% - Aromadendrene, beta Caryophylene, alfa Vetivon
1-2% - Isovalencol, beta Vetivon
Compared to EO Vetiver Java, the Sri Lanka oil is less smoky, but otherwise these vetiver variants are very similar. The Sri Lanka oil is therefore less difficult to use; the odour is less prevalent. On the other hand: if the smokiness is desired, the Java oil is more suitable.
Packaging
The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g packaging is made of aluminium with a stopper and white cap.
Warnings
EO Vetiver Sri Lanka is classified as a hazardous substance, with the following characteristics:

H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
