EO Eucalyptus globulus (org) is essential oil of the eucalyptus. This oil is made by steam distillation from the leaves of the large-leaved eucalyptus tree. It is a natural substance, but also a hazardous substance that must be handled with care. Nothing has been added to the eucalyptus oil that we sell, it is pure essential oil.
The addition (org) means that the oil is of 'organic' origin, which means, among other things, that no fertilizers and as little or no pesticides as possible have been used in the cultivation.
EO Eucalyptus globulus can be used for perfuming cosmetics or as a fragrance in perfumes and other fragrance products. In addition, it is suitable for external use in aromatherapy, or in an aroma lamp, provided the oil is used in a sufficiently filled container with water, otherwise a fire may start.
There are different types of Eucalyptus, about 200, and essential oil is also made from other types. The kind we sell is the most common. The botanical name is often used to distinguish the different species, for our oil it is Eucalyptus globulus.
In English and French eucalyptus is also eucalyptus, in German the c is replaced by a k: eukalyptus. A name from the country of origin (Australia) is Blue Gum. INCI: EO eucalyptus can be part of the perfume, the INCI indication 'Perfume' is sufficient. If the oil is not intended as a perfume, but, for example, as an active ingredient, you can also opt for the designation 'Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil'. In addition, it may be necessary to state the allergens contained in the Eucalyptus oil on the label, this depends on the total amount of allergens in the product and the type of product. The FEMA number is 2466.
General use: EO Eucalyptus globulus contains the following allergens: limonene (limonene). We do not recommend using it if you have a known allergy to limonene. We have not added an antioxidant to our eucalyptus oil. Because the oil naturally contains around 20% limonene and pinene, both sensitive to oxygen from the air, it can be wise to add an antioxidant to the oil, or else to the product in which it is used. For the oil, 0.1% BHT is particularly recommended as an antioxidant. Without an antioxidant, the oil can partially oxidize after being exposed to the air for a longer period of time, making the oil more allergenic.
Perfuming cosmetics, perfumes and other fragrance products: the maximum amount we recommend depends on other added fragrances, the sensitivity of the user, but above all on the product to be perfumed.
- Face creams and other products that remain on the normally exposed skin: maximum 0.2%, that is about 4 drops per 100 grams of product.
- Body creams, massage oil and other products that remain on the parts of the body normally covered by clothes: a maximum of 0.6%, which is about 12 drops per 100 grams of product.
- Shampoo, soap and other products that are rinsed off: maximum 1.0%, that is about 20 drops per 100 grams of product.
- Perfume and other cosmetic fragrance products: maximum 8%, which is about 160 drops per 100 grams of product.
- Room perfumes, scented candles and other fragrance products that are not cosmetics: maximum 12%, that is about 240 drops per 100 grams of product.
There is no legal or IFRA restriction on the maximum amount of eucalyptus oil to be used in cosmetics.
In perfumes and the like, eucalyptus is primarily a top note, ranking 4 out of 100 on Poucher's grading. It is normally not a widely used substance, only if a medicinal scent is desired is eucalyptus suitable. Can also be used in toothpaste and mouthwashes.
In soap it gives some freshness, here too it has a strong medicinal scent, so especially suitable for disinfecting soaps. It must be well fixed.
Other Uses: Eucalyptus oil is NOT a preservative! Like many types of essential oil, eucalyptus oil contributes to the preservation, but because not all micro-organisms are sufficiently killed or limited in growth in every concentration, the preservative effect is often only sufficient in dangerously high concentrations. The same applies to use as a disinfectant: contributes, but only as a support for other means.
Aromatherapy: We do not give advice in the field of aromatherapy, as opinions differ greatly on this point. We do, however, advise not to use eucalyptus oil undiluted on the skin.
Indication of the composition:
> 25% - 1,8 Cineol
5-10 % - Limonene
2-5% - alpha Pinene
1-2 % - alpha Terpineol
Eucalyptus oil is a natural product, the exact composition of the oil therefore differs each time, this depends on the region of origin, the age of the plants, the weather during the growing season, the way of harvesting, the way of distilling, rectifying and some other factors.
Packaging: we supply this standard in 10, 50 and 250 g packaging.
10 ml packaging: brown glass bottle with child-resistant closure, in a plastic bag
50 ml packaging: brown glass bottle with child-resistant closure
250 g packaging: Aluminum packaging with plastic stopper and cap. It should not be sold to consumers as the closure is not child resistant.
The child-resistant closure works just like most others: push the cap down so that the tabs on the top part fit into those on the part and carefully unscrew the cap. Twisting without pushing properly may cause the cap to malfunction.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in the tightly closed original container in a well-ventilated area. DO NOT refrigerate. Keep out of reach of children.
