EO Angelica root *ADR*

EO Angelica root is an essential oil for use as a fragrance raw material. For example, use the oil in perfume, cosmetics and other scented products.

Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not an end product.

Use

EO Angelica root has a green spicy scent, with animalic and spicy aspects. It has quite a strong scent, making a 10% dilution in eg DPG can be helpful. It goes well with other green and spicy scents, such as in chypres and fougères, but it also goes well with ambers. You usually use less than 1% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It is primarily a top to middle note in perfumes and is stable in many products, including soap.

Store cool, dry and dark.

Properties

EO Angelica root is a light yellow to yellow-brown liquid at room temperature. It has a fairly long shelf life. The oil is made by steam distillation from the roots of the Angelica archangelica L., or angelica. Like any essential oil, this one is a mixture of various substances. An indication of the composition is the following:

> 25% - alpha Pinene
10-25% - delta 3-Carene
5-10% - Limonene, Myrcene
2-5% - Camphene, beta Caryophyllene, para Cymene, para Mentha-1,3-diene, Terpinolene
1-2% - 4-Carvomenthenol, beta Pinene

It is worth mentioning that it contains up to about 1% omegapentadecalactone, a musky fragrance.

Sustainability

Making this essential oil requires relatively much energy and a lot of material, the root of the plant contains only little oil. The components are not all easily and quickly degradable. That certainly doesn't make it the most sustainable essential oil. The oil is 100% natural and renewable.

The packaging is made of brown glass with a black child-resistant cap.

H317 - May cause an allergic skin reaction.
H319 - Causes serious eye irritation.
H410 - Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

It contains the allergenic substance limonene.
