Attention!
Please read all information below and the general product information before purchasing.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.
Use
SantalIff (IFF) has a scent reminiscent of sandalwood. The scent is not particularly strong, undiluted use is common. Typical use is in wood accords, especially sandalwood. You usually use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It is first and foremost a substitute for sandalwood essential oil. The scent is not the same, but it is very close. For that reason, it can often replace the oil on a one-to-one basis. In perfumes it is mainly a base note, it is stable in most products, including soap.
Properties
SantalIff (IFF) is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 92% (cis + trans isomer) and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It does not occur in nature, it is a synthetic substance. This is largely based on vegetable raw materials. The manufacturer is the American IFF. The same molecule is also sold under the names Hindinol (Takasago), Sandal Mysore core, Sandaxol and a few more.
This fragrance will not smell good to everyone: especially in its pure form and without other fragrances. It is also conceivable that sometimes it works and other times it doesn't, one batch works and the other batch doesn't.

Sustainability
This fragrance is largely made from renewable raw materials, the percentage of renewable carbon is 77%. The degradability in the environment is poor. SantalIff (IFF) can be a sustainable replacement for sandalwood essential oil, however, provided the sandalwood oil is optimally produced, the essential oil may still be a better (but much more expensive) choice.
