Attention!
Before purchasing, read all information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be boring or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a final product.
Use
Omega pentadecalactone has a somewhat sweet fruity musky scent. The scent is quite strong, however, because the substance is solid at room temperature, it can be useful to make a solution of it. Making a 10% dilution can actually be done in all common solvents, if you heat it on a water bath. For a more concentrated solution, IPM is a good choice. Typical use is in a musk accord. You usually use between 0,2% and 20% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with other musks, but also with floral and fruity scents. In perfumes it is mainly a base note, it is stable in most products, also in soap.
Store in a cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.
Properties
Omega pentadecalactone is a colourless solid at room temperature. We pour this in the molten state into the packaging, after which it solidifies. The purity is at least 98,5% and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. Men are said to smell this substance better than women, but convincing evidence for that idea is lacking. By the way: as with almost all musks, there are relatively many people who do not notice the smell at all. It occurs in nature, angelica extracts contain up to 5% of this substance. The material we sell is synthetic. This version has been in production since 1927, a remarkable achievement at the time, it is not a simple process. We sell the same molecule under the name Macrolide (Sym), but because that Symrise branded product is sometimes temporarily unavailable, we also sell this unbranded alternative.
