Description
Methyl tuberate (Giv) is an aromachemical for use in perfume, cosmetics, soap, candles and air fresheners.
Attention!
Before purchasing, read all information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be boring or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.
Use
Methyl tuberate (Giv) has a waxy floral scent reminiscent of aspects of flowers such as tuberose, gardenia and tulip. The scent is not particularly strong, but a low dosage is common. Making a dilution of for example 10% in TEC or DPG can therefore be useful. Typical use is in floral accords, especially tuberose and gardenia. You usually use between 0,1% and 1% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with lactones and coconut-like scents. It adds a natural extra dimension to the scent. In perfumes it is mainly a base note. It is stable in many products, also in soap, but it cannot withstand a very high or low pH or bleach.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place and out of reach of children.
Properties
Methyl tuberate (Giv) is a colourless to light yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 95% (four isomers) and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance the synthetic version is used. This is largely based on synthetic raw materials. The manufacturer is the Swiss Givaudan, they call this substance Methyl Tuberate Pure.
This fragrance will not smell good to everyone: certainly in pure form and without other fragrances. It is also conceivable that it works one time and not the next, one batch works and the other batch does not.
