Description
Ethyl acetoacetate is a fragrance for use in, for example, perfume, cosmetics and air fresheners.
Use
Ethyl acetoacetate has a green fruity scent reminiscent of green apples like Granny Smith. The fragrance is not very strong, so undiluted use is common. Typical use is in apple, pear and other tree fruit accords, for example. You usually use between 0,1% and 15% of this substance in the fragrance composition, for green apple it can be even more. It combines well with other green and fruity scents and adds a touch of natural fresh fruitiness. It is mainly a top note in perfumes and it is quite stable. Use in soap is not recommended because it is a very volatile substance.
Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.
Properties
Ethyl acetoacetate is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 98% and the substance has a fairly long shelf life. It occurs in nature, but for use as a fragrance, the synthetic version is used. In theory, it can be based entirely on vegetable substances, in practice we expect that this substance is largely made on substances from natural gas, petroleum and air.
Packaging
The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g and 1 kg pack is made of aluminium with a stopper and a white cap.
Dangers
Ethyl acetoacetate is not classified as a hazardous substance. We still recommend that you handle all substances with care: keep out of the reach of children.
