Attention!

Before purchasing, read all the information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.

Use

Amyl salicylate has a scent reminiscent of flowers, with sweet, balsamic, spicy and green aspects. It also has the characteristic sweet metallic odour of salicylates. The scent is not particularly strong, undiluted use is common. Typical use is in fougères and certain floral accords. For the latter, a non-complete list is: clover, orchid, azalea, hyacinth, poppy, broom, heliotrope, daffodil, wallflower and carnation. You usually use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance composition, but a little more is possible without any problems. It combines well with fruit, citrus, herbs and aldehydes. It adds warmth and sweetness to the scent. In perfumes it is mainly a heart to base note, it is stable in most products, including soaps. It can be used well in scented candles.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place and out of the reach of children.

Properties

Amyl salicylate is a colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. It is a mixture of mainly three isomers:
n-Pentyl salicylate 50-75%
2-Methylbutyl salicylate 25-50%
Isopentyl salicylate 5-8%

Please note: this applies to the product we sell. Products with a different ratio of these isomers can also be traded under the same names, so the scent may differ slightly.

The substance has a fairly long shelf life and occurs in nature, but the synthetic version is used for use as a fragrance.
