2,6-Nonadien-1-al is a fragrance for use in, for example, perfume and air fresheners.

Use

2,6-Nonadien-1-al has an intense greasy green scent reminiscent of (highly concentrated) cucumber and violet. The smell is very strong, making a dilution of for example 10%, 1%, or even 0,1% can therefore be useful. You usually use a trace of this substance up to 0,2% in the fragrance composition. It combines well with fruits such as melon, pear and apple or floral scents such as cassie, linden blossom and violet. It is a heart and base note in perfumes and despite its aldehyde character it can also be used in soap.

A dilution of 10% or further diluted can be made in, for example, DPG. Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

2,6-Nonadien-1-al is a pale yellow to yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 96%. The substance is fairly sensitive to oxidation and is therefore best replaced annually with fresh stock. The substance occurs in nature, but the synthetic version is used for use as a fragrance.

Packaging

The packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap, these bottles are not completely filled. For dosing we recommend plastic pipettes, these are not included.
