Description

Violet leaf absolute is an absolute for use in products such as perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, and air fresheners.

Caution!

Read all information below and the general product information before purchasing.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids, or other internal use.
Intended for mixing with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.

Usage

Violet leaf absolute has a green scent reminiscent of cucumber and broken stems. The scent is strong and the material is usually solid at room temperature: therefore, making a dilution of, for example, 10% can be beneficial. TEC and DPG are suitable for this. It is primarily used in floral accords with a green aspect, especially violet. Typically, a trace to 1% of this substance is used in the fragrance composition, but you could use much more. It pairs well with other green scents and many floral notes, as well as fruits like melon and kiwi. It is primarily used as a top note in perfumes, but is essentially a base note, similar to the use of linear aldehydes in perfumes. It is stable in most products, including soaps.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place, and out of reach of children.

Properties

At room temperature, violet leaf absolute is a dark green to almost brown paste, liquid, or somewhere in between. It has a relatively long shelf life, provided it is stored in a cool, dry, and dark place (NOT in the refrigerator).

The extract is made by soaking the green leaves and stems of violets (Wood violets, Viola odorata L.) in a solvent. After further processing, the fragrance remains, except for a small amount of solvent.

Like any plant extract, this one is a mixture of various substances. Many of these are rarely, if ever, described in the literature, and many have no scent. It contains the following substances:

Phytol
1-Hexadecene
Linalool
Methyl salicylate
2,6-Nonadienal
1-Octadecene
3-Pentadecenal
