Description
Tobacco absolute is an aroma material for use in perfume or pomade, for example.
Use
Tobacco absolute has the scent of hay, moss and tobacco, the scent is medium strong. The material is typically used in, for example, leather and tobacco accords. You usually use between 0.1% and 3% of this substance in the aroma composition, making a dilution of, for example, 10% can therefore be useful. It compliments leather scents, wood scents, but also herbs such as lavender and spices. A small amount can make many floral scents, such as rose, more interesting. In perfumes it is mainly a base note. Store cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.
Properties
Tobacco absolute is a dark brown, almost black, viscous liquid at room temperature. The substance has a fairly long shelf life. The substance is an absolute, an extract made with certain solvents, in this case ethanol (alcohol). These solvents are removed from the extract as best as possible, but the extract may contain up to 1% ethanol. Tobacco naturally contains the highly toxic substance nicotine, which can also be toxic through skin contact. Nicotine is also in the absolute, but not more than 400 ppm (0.04%), so the extract itself is not classified as toxic. The scent comes from the leaves of the tobacco plant: Nicotiana tabacum L.
Packaging
The 5 g packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 20 g packaging is made of aluminium with a white cap.
