Description
Osmanthus absolute is an absolute for use in products such as perfumes, cosmetics, and air fresheners.
Caution!
Before purchasing, read all information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids, or other internal use.
Intended for mixing with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a finished product.
Use
Osmanthus absolute has a fruity scent reminiscent of apricot and honey. The scent is not particularly strong, so it can be used undiluted. It is primarily used in fruity accords. Typically, between 0,1% and 5% of this substance is used in the fragrance composition. It pairs well with fruity scents, but also with floral fragrances like jasmine. It sweetens the overall effect. In perfumes, it's primarily a heart note. Unfortunately, little is known about its stability.
Store in a cool, dry, dark place, and out of reach of children.
Properties
Osmanthus absolute is an orange-yellow liquid at room temperature. It has a fairly long shelf life, provided it's stored in a cool, dry, dark place (NOT in the refrigerator).
The extract is made by soaking the flowers of Osmanthus fragans Lour. in a solvent. After further processing with alcohol, the fragrance remains, except for a small amount of solvent: the absolute can contain up to 2% alcohol.
Like any plant extract, this one is a mixture of various substances. The composition is as follows:
> 25% - beta-ionone
10-25% - dihydro-beta-ionone, linalool oxide
5-10% - gamma-decalactone
1-2% - linalool
