Oakmoss absolute

Oakmoss absolute is an aroma extract for use in perfume and air fresheners, for example.

Use

Oakmoss absolute has a distinctive, special scent. For that reason, it has its own fragrance category: “moss”, in which very few substances are classified. You can describe this as a combination of animal scents, tobacco, green scents,ut also seaweed, ambergris, herbal, spicy. It is an essential ingredient in chypre and fougère perfumes, but also goes well with spicy and green scents. Other uses are in leather scents, wood scents, sea scents and some floral perfumes.

Because it is a strong allergen, it is only used in very low doses, rarely more than 1% in the fragrance composition. It is therefore often used in dilution. De Hekserij offers this substance elsewhere in the webshop as a 5% dilution in DPG. Store cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

Oakmoss absolute is a green-brown paste at room temperature, the substance has a fairly long shelf life. The substance is an absolute, an extract made with certain solvents such as hexane or alcohol. These solvents are removed from the extract as much as possible.

Oakmoss absolute is made from the lichen oak moss or Evernia prunastri (L.) Ach.. This lichen species is native to large parts of Europe.

The IFRA has limited the use of oak moss to a very low level and has also set requirements for the maximum level of the most allergenic components of oak moss, atranol and chloratranol. Our oak moss meets the requirements set by IFRA (Amendment 43).

Packaging

The 5 gram packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 20 and 50 gram packaging is made of aluminium with a white cap. The packages are not completely full, they are filled to the indicated quantity.
