Attention!

Before purchasing, read all information below and the general product information.
Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use.
Intended to be mixed with other fragrances: on its own, the scent can be boring or even unpleasant.
Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not a final product.

Use

Labdanum absolute has a spicy wood and amber scent with green aspects. The scent is not particularly strong, but it is a very viscous substance. Making a dilution of, for example, 10 or 25% can therefore be useful. You use it in amber accords, but also in chypres, in leather scents, tobacco scents and wood. Usually you use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It goes well with spicy scents, resins, wood, spices but also with floral scents. Although there are similarities with labdanum resinoide there are also very clear differences. In perfumes it is mainly a base note and is stable in most products. It can also be used in soap, although resinoide may be a better choice.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place and out of reach of children.

Properties

Labdanum absolute is a yellow to brown very viscous liquid at room temperature. The substance has a fairly long shelf life, provided it is stored in a cool, dry and dark place (NOT in the refrigerator).

The extract is made from labdanum: the resin of the flowers of the gum rockrose Cistus ladanifer L.. A concrete extract is first made from this resin by dissolving the resin in a non-polar solvent and removing it after filtration. This concrete extract is then dissolved in alcohol and after filtration this alcohol is also removed as much as possible.

Like every plant extract, this is also a mixture of various substances. Unfortunately, very little has been published about this.

Sustainability

Labdanum absolute is made from vegetable substances. Solvents are largely recovered, but there is some loss and of course the process costs energy. It is completely biodegradable in the environment and not significantly harmful to the environment.

Land is needed for plant production, but the yield per hectare is quite good compared to many other extracts.

Packaging

The 5 gram packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 20 and 50 gram packaging is made of aluminium with a black cap. The 250 g packaging is made of aluminium with a white cap.

Due to the viscosity of the product, a spatula or a narrow spoon is needed to get the product out of the packaging.

Hazards

Labdanum absolute is classified as a hazardous substance, with the following characteristics:
