Hexaderm LSH

Description

Hexaderm LSH is a skin and hair conditioner for shower gel and shampoo.

Use

Hexaderm LSH is mainly used as a conditioner in cleansing products that you rinse off after use (rinse-off). In addition, also to increase the viscosity of these products ('thicken'). Besides that, it has a few other additional benefits: it stabilizes the foam, so it lasts longer. It also helps to mix poorly water-soluble substances in the product, such as menthol, salicylic acid or perfumes.

Our recipes usually use a maximum of 3% of this substance. You can easily double this percentage if you want a 'thicker' shampoo or shower gel, but the product may then become a bit sticky. If it still isn't thick enough, you may have done something wrong:

  • You must stir the shampoo well for at least 1 minute.
  • The thickening works best in an acidic environment, add a pinch of citric acid, better: adjust the pH to 5-6.
  • You want a very thick shampoo: in addition to Hexaderm LSH, add one or two teaspoon(s) of table salt per 100 ml of shampoo and stir it well, the shampoo will now thicken. Look out! If you add too much salt, the shampoo will become thinner again! This only works if you have Detergent (SLES) Hx in your recipe.
  • The shampoo thickens a little further in the 12 hours after preparation.

Due to the high viscosity, Hexaderm LSH is not the easiest substance to process, by allowing it to warm up before use, for example near a stove, or by heating the bottle in a water bath, it becomes less viscous.

Properties

Hexaderm LSH is a viscous colourless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The material has a fairly long shelf life: keep in a cool, dry, dark and well-closed container. The pH is around 7, the pH of the final product should be in the range 4-9.

Sustainability

Hexaderm LSH is made from palm and coconut fat, ethylene oxide, hydrogen and water. Animal substances are not used, not even in the production process. It contains up to 0,001% heavy metals, 0,0005% dioxane and 0,0001% ethylene oxide. Lower percentages cannot be achieved with normal but good production processes.

The product is degradable in the environment (42% in 28 days), the chemical oxygen consumption is less than 1,6 g/l.

Packaging

The packages up to 1 liter are a bottle of brown plastic (PET), with a black plastic (PP) cap. The 5 kg pack is a plastic (HDPE) jerry can with a black plastic (PP) cap (DIN 51).
