CastEmul Hx

Description

CastEmul Hx is an emulsifier and humectant, especially suitable for oily creams.

Use

Heating is not necessary to make an emulsion from CastEmul Hx. But heating is also possible, and necessary if waxes, fats or other melting components are used. When used as an emulsifier or humectant (moisturizer), a dosage of 3-5% is common.

When used as a humectant just add it to the fat phase of a product.

A suitable formulation can be found here.

Properties

CastEmul Hx is a viscous, yellow-brown oily liquid. It has a reasonably long shelf life, provided it is kept cool, dry and dark.

A similar product is Dermofeel PR from the German Evonik. As a rule, CastEmul Hx 1: 1 can be exchanged with Dermofeel PR. As is not uncommon in cosmetics, a lot of (positive) nonsense is told about it on the internet, but it is also a really nice product. It is an excellent emulsifier for oily creams, it can do a lot of good especially for dry and damaged skin.

There is also a disadvantage: oily creams are more difficult to spread and do not always feel pleasant. It is therefore not recommended to use in cosmetics that are mainly intended to give you a pleasant feeling.

Use it in a night cream, hand and foot cream, but preferably not in a day cream, unless good protection and care is preferable to a fine lubricating product.

Sustainability

CastEmul Hx is made entirely of castor oil and vegetable glycerin (made from rapeseed oil) and thus meets the requirements of the Cosmos standard.

Packaging

We pack CastEmul Hx in brown plastic (PET) bottles with black plastic (PP) caps.

Hazards

CastEmul Hx is not classified as a hazardous substance (REACH / CLP).
