Description

CO2 Ambrette seed is a CO2 extract for use in, for example, perfume, cosmetics and air fresheners.

Take note!

Please read all information below and the general product information before purchasing. Not intended for use in food, vape liquids or other internal use. Intended to be mixed with other fragrances, on its own, the scent can be dull or even unpleasant. Do not use undiluted on the skin: it is a raw material, not an end product.

Use

CO2 Ambrette seed has a warm spicy scent that is not very strong. It can therefore be used undiluted. It is especially popular with natural perfumers because of its musky scent and the fact that it contains quite a lot of natural ambrettolide. Ambrettolide is very popular among perfumers, even in minute quantities, because it strongly suppresses the smell of alcohol. In 'normal' perfumery, CO2 Ambrette seed is a good substance for making musk accords smell less synthetic. Usually you use between 0,1% and 10% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It goes great with vetiver, but also goes well with other woody scents. It is mainly a base note in perfumes. Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

CO2 Ambrette seed is a light yellow to yellow liquid at room temperature. It has a fairly long shelf life, if stored in a cool, dry and dark place (NOT in the refrigerator). The extract is made from the seeds of Abelmoschus moschatus Medik. that are extracted in liquefied carbon dioxide. After a post-processing, the fragrant components remain, the carbon dioxide becomes gaseous again and disappears completely from the extract. It is a so-called 'select' extract, which means that it mainly contains the fairly volatile substances that are present in the plant material. Like any plant extract, this one is a mixture of various substances. An indication of the composition is the following:

> 25% - Farnesyl acetate
5-10% - Ambrettolide
2-5% - Dodecyl acetate
1-2% - Decyl acetate

Sustainability

CO2 Ambrette seed is made from vegetable substances and mineral carbon dioxide. It is completely degradable in the environment. However, quite a lot of land is required for plant production for a small amount of extract.
