Description

Aldehyde C9, or nonanal, is a fragrance for use in, for example, perfume and scented candles.

Use

Aldehyde C9 has the characteristic fresh, yet greasy and also green citrus scent of aldehydes. The smell is quite strong and therefore it is wise to make a dilution of, for example, 10%. If you make this in alcohol, you have the advantage that the shelf life of the aldehyde improves. Typical use is in rose and citrus accords. You usually use a maximum of 0,5% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It combines well with other aldehydes, but also with many floral scents. It adds a touch of natural freshness. Some perfumers see it as a top note, because it has the most effect in the top. Others just as a base note, because the scent can be perceived right down to the base. Stability is not too bad for an aldehyde, it is also reasonably useful in soap. In scented candles it mainly has a good cold throw, while the candle is burning it produces little odor. Keep cool, dry, dark and out of reach of children.

Properties

Aldehyde C9 is a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature. The purity is at least 97%. The substance does not last very long, we recommend replacing it about once a year. Dissolving in alcohol extends the shelf life. The substance occurs in nature, but the synthetic version is used for use as a fragrance.

Packaging

The 10 and 50 ml packaging is made of brown glass with a black cap. The 250 g package is made of aluminium with a white cap.
