Amyris is also known as West Indian sandalwood. Because that can be confusing: it is not made of sandalwood and smells really different, we do not use this name. Most amyris oil, including (usually) ours, comes from Haiti.

Use
Essential oil Amyris has a warm woody scent with aspects of sandalwood, also slightly smoky and tarry. The scent is not very strong, so you can use this oil undiluted. It combines well with other woody scents and also with leather perfumes. In addition, it blends well with heavy green scents, lavender, spice and animal scents. You usually use between 0,1% and 30% of this substance in the fragrance composition. It is primarily a base note in perfumes and is stable in most products, including soap.Store cool, dry and dark.
Properties
Essential oil Amyris is a pale yellow to orange-yellow liquid that is sometimes viscous at room temperature. The substance has a long shelf life, some even like the smell of the older oil better. The oil is made by steam distillation from the wood and bark of the Amyris balsamifera L., a tree native to the Caribbean and around the Gulf of Mexico. Like any essential oil, this one is a mixture of various substances. An indication of the composition is the following:10-25% - Elemol, beta Eudesmol, gamma Eudesmol, Valerianol
