Description

alpha Isomethyl ionone is an aromachemical for use in for instance perfume, scented candles or air care products.

Use

alpha Isomethyl ionone has a powdery scent: orris, violet, but also tobacco and wood. The scent is not too strong and blends well with other scents, therefore there is no reason to dillute this material. It is a very versatile material that can be used in larger amounts without problems. You can use it in florals like rose, violet, fougere, wood fragrances, chypre and many more. Common use is between 0,5 and 15% of this material in the concentrate, but you can use more or less. In perfumes in general a base note; stable in most products, that includes soap. Keep cool, dry, dark and out of the reach of children.

Properties

At room temperature alpha Isomethyl ionone is a pale yellow to yellow liquid, at least 90% pure. The material can be stored for a long time, it does not occur in nature, it is a synthetic. In general we supply an IFF quality: methyl ionone gamma coeur. Other names for this substance include gamma methyl ionone or just methyl ionone. Unfortunately there are different methyl ionones that all can bear this same name. It is one of the methyl ionones, a group of materials that have quite a similar fragrance. Though in general one can replace one type of methyl ionone for another, especially a more skilled perfumer may be interested in experimenting with different kinds to learn to use them in different blends.

Packaging

We pack the smaller amounts in brown glass (black cap), the 250 g packaging is in aluminium (stopper + white cap).
