Use

Salicylic acid is used, among other things, as a reagent on iron(III) compounds and for making fragrant esters. This product is not intended for use in cosmetics, food, or other internal use.

Properties

The purity of our salicylic acid is very pure: minimum 99%. We supply it as a fine powder. Salicylic acid is found in the meadowsweet plant and various willow species. Decoctions of these plants have been used as an antipyretic for many centuries. Because pure salicylic acid is bad for the stomach, it is not used as an antipyretic. A variant of salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, is used. This substance is known as "Aspirin" (a brand name of Bayer). The name Aspirin is derived from Spirea (botanical name of meadowsweet). The willow tree is called Salix in Latin, hence the name salicylic acid.

Salicylic acid is classified as a dangerous substance, with the following characteristics: DANGER H302 - Harmful if swallowed. H318 - Causes serious eye damage. H361 - Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child.
