Hair conditioner BMS is an active ingredient in hair care products, such as hair treatments.

Use

Hair conditioner BMS is, as the name implies, a hair conditioner. However, in this form it is a compound that must be incorporated into a product before it can be used. In its pure form, it is unsuitable and insufficiently skin-friendly.

Formula

A very simple hair conditioner can be made as follows. To start, take 1 gram of Hair Conditioner BMS. Mix this with 20 ml of water in a beaker. Then heat until the BMS is melted and stir well. Turn off the heating, but keep stirring until the temperature has dropped to 40 °C. Then add 5 drops of HexaCon 91 and stir well for at least another minute. Place in a bottle and shake well before use. A few drops of perfume oil can be added simultaneously with preservative HexaCon 91.

Use in other formulas

Hair conditioner BMS can easily be used as a replacement for other hair conditioners. Examples include Kurquat, Incroquat BTMS, behentrimonium chloride and cetrimonium chloride. Remember to convert the formula so that you use the right amount of cetyl alcohol and conditioner.

Characteristics

Hair conditioner BMS consists of white wax granules with a somewhat animalic odor. The product is a mixture of cetearyl alcohol (75%) and behenetrimonium methosulfate (25%). The cetearyl alcohol, almost identical to cetyl alcohol, serves as an emulsifier. The behentrimonium methosulfate is the actual conditioner. This material adheres especially to damaged parts of the hair, and forms a smooth layer. A comb, hands and other hairs then glide more easily over the hair, limiting further damage. The product also lubricates the undamaged hairs, making them easier to comb through and less prone to damage.

Store it Dry, so do NOT keep in the refrigerator. Also store it cool, dark and in the well-closed packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
